Corporate Banking – Trade Finance

Trade Finance Overview

We designed for the complex world of trade finance, making it simpler and more intuitive. My work includes digital screens for Letter of Credit (both import and export), Bank Guarantee (issued and received), Collections, and Receivable Finance. The goal is to make these intricate financial tools feel approachable, with clear workflows and straightforward navigation. By focusing on user needs and seamless access to essential features, I help make trade finance processes smooth and efficient for banking app users.

Problem

Trade finance products like Letters of Credit, Bank Guarantees, Collections, and Receivable Finance are critical but often complex services, involving multiple steps, legal documents, and regulatory requirements. For users, managing these products through a digital interface can be confusing and time-consuming. Without intuitive design, users face a steep learning curve and risk errors in high-stakes financial transactions.

Research

To understand user pain points, I conducted research through competitive analysis, and feedback sessions with banking professionals and clients. Common themes emerged: users wanted clarity on transaction stages, easy document access, and reliable guidance for each process. Additionally, the research highlighted the importance of visual indicators for transaction status and simplified workflows that minimize back-and-forth steps.

Solution

The solution involved creating clean, role-specific interfaces that broke down complex processes into clear, sequential steps. For each product:

  • Letter of Credit screens display stage indicators for import and export, guiding users through application, amendment, and compliance checks.
  • Bank Guarantee workflows use action buttons and status summaries for issued and received guarantees, enabling users to quickly complete or review transactions.
  • Collections and Receivable Finance include document upload/download sections, status updates for ease of tracking.

These interfaces focus on minimizing cognitive load with clear language, visual cues, and quick access to essential actions, ensuring users can handle trade finance with confidence and efficiency.
